note: this lauda shares an identical form and rhyme scheme with another transmitted in the same sources, ‘Questa è quella croce grande’, which has a cc. of ‘Quest’è donne un arber grande’; it is likely, therefore, that the cc. ‘L’alboro [albero] della ghiande [grande?]’ is a reference to this same (carnival song?) title.

note: cc. incipit and probable form (BaG:8) suggest a carnival song, but the text cannot be located in the primary printed sources. This lauda shares an identical form and rhyme scheme with another transmitted in the same sources, ‘Questa tuo pietà si grande’, which has a cc. of ‘L’alboro della ghiande’; it is likely, therefore, that both laude refer to the same song. A setting of the lauda is preserved in PetL/i.

note: also in LA424, with indication that the lauda was ‘sent to Giovanni di Jacopo vaiaio’. Rubric in Gall4 = ‘cantasi come--di ben morire’, though this sounds more like a topical rubric (which it appears to be in LA424).
