BruscagliTCC, i, 218 transmits the text of a different ‘Canzona de’ Diavoli’, ‘Se colui ch’ora in ciel gode immortale’, and il Giuggiola’s ‘Trionfo di diavoli’, set by A. Coppini, is a cc. for the lauda ‘Giù nelle infernal grotte morte’. GhisiCC, 93 mistakenly associates the Coppini setting with the Machiavelli text. See CattinNR, 260, and BlackburnTCS, 129 who cites a likely date of Carnival, 1502 for Machiavelli’s carnival song (the text of which alludes to the election of Cardinal Giuliano de’ Medici).

BruscagliTCC, i, 23-4; OrvietoCC, 85-6 (where title is ‘Canzona de’visi addrieto’, and incipit ‘Le cose al contradio vanno’). Penned into the margin of R196 is ‘f. mascherata’. The music and text in BR230 occupies the last extant folio, and is mutilated (some text, and music for the soprano part remain); both BecheriniCCat, 67-8 and GhisiCC, 96, 190 identified this song as Jacopo da Bientina’s ‘Canto di uomini che vanno col viso volto di dietro’, but from the remaining text it is possible to identify this as Lorenzo’s Canzona de’ visi addrieto’.
