MaceyB reconstructs the chain of cc. links: d’Astore’s lauda had its own setting or could be sung to the tune of ‘O benigno Signore’ (Gall2); no music for ‘O benigno Signore’ survives, but in BNF, J.VIII.5 (late 16thc), ‘Signore soccorri aita’ (see Bartolomeo’s a4 setting) could be sung to ‘O benigno Signore’ or ‘O dolce redentore’. Thus, the setting in Rz1563 is a possible source for all of these texts.
