Composer:

G.D. da Nola

Lauda:

Tre virtù siamo eroice, e divine
5:11 (abccx deffx...)

Lauda Poet:

Serafino Razzi

Notes:

note: Razzi rubric reads ‘cantasi come Tre ciechi siamo’, but provides the music with the lauda text underlaid. Text & music ed. Mancuso, 641-7. In fact the music is from a group of villote alla napolitana that Razzi mined for his lauda settings. ‘Tre ciechi siamo’ was included in da Nola’s Canzone villanesche alla napolitana (Venice, 1545); see MaceyB, 57-8. GhisiCC, 99 lists this pair of titles among his carnival songs with travestimenti spirituali.
